- After a rough start of the season bounced back to run a European Championship A-standard of 4:06.29 at the Mondo Keien Meeting, only staying .43 off her personal best despite running solo the last 600m
- Only followed the next week by another A-qualifier of 4:07.09 to finish 9th at her first ever Diamond League in Lausanne
- Silver medalist in the 800m at the Dutch outdoor championships in a second best time of 2:02.81, only .57 slower than her personal best as a result of pushing the pace from the start
2009
- Competed in her first World championship 1500m in Berlin after qualifying at the Mondo Keien Meeting in Uden, the Netherlands by running a phenomenal last 500m solo in front of a home crowd and finishing in an A-qualifier and third fastest time ever by a Dutch woman of 4:05.86min
- NCAA champion 1500m outdoor
- Placed second at the NCAA indoor championships 3000m
- Placed third at the NCAA cross country championships and took second with the team
- Took over 4 seconds off her 800m personal best in Atlanta, Georgia and led the last 300m to finish in 2:02.24min
- Silver medalist in the 800m at the Dutch outdoor championships
- Named ACC Scholar Athlete of the Year and a CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American
2008
- Gold medalist at the European cross country championships -23 in Brussels
- NCAA champion 3000m indoor in a personal best time of 8:58.12
- Placed second at the NCAA cross country championships and took third with the team
- Named ACC performer of the year in cross country
- Despite having to battle plantar faciitis, managed to place eight at the NCAA outdoor championships and earn All America honors
2007
- Silver medalist in the 1500m at the NCAA track and field championships; in the process taking over 6 seconds off her personal best and breaking the school record by running 4:11.34min
- Placed third individually and with the team at the NCAA cross country championships
- Placed fourth at the European championships -23 in the 1500m
- Named NCAA South region athlete of the year & ACC performer of the year in cross country
2006
- Placed 16th at the European -23 cross country championships in San Giorgio su Legnano, Italy and missed the team bronze by only 1 point
- First All-America honor by placing 27th at the NCAA cross country championships
- Named NCAA South region athlete of the year in cross country
- First National senior medal by placing second in the 1500m at the Dutch championships
- Didn’t qualify for NCAA Outdoors due to food poisoning at the Regional meet, but bounced back by running a 1500m personal best of 4:17.74min two weeks later
- Also ran personal bests in the 3000m&5000m
2005
- Silver medalist at the European junior championships in Kaunas, Lithuania.
- Bronze medalist at the European junior cross country championships in front of a home crowd in Tilburg, the Netherlands
- Was awarded the “Fanny Blankers-Koen Plaquette”, a sport prize for the best Dutch junior athlete of the year
- Made her first Dutch senior team and placed 7th at the European Cup
- Four time national junior champion: cross country, 1500m indoor and 1500m&3000m outdoor
- Took over 7 seconds off her 800m personal best to claim a surprising win at the Golden Spike meet in Leiden, the Netherlands
- Ran 6:07.35 for 2000m to break the National junior record by 7 seconds
- Junior athlete of the year of hometown Nijmegen
2004
- Three time national junior champion: cross country and 1500m indoor&outdoor
- Qualified for the World junior championships in Grosseto, Italy, but didn’t finish the race due to illness

- Gold medalist at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Paris, France 3000m
- Bronze medalist at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Paris, France 1500m
- Three time national junior champion: 1500m indoor and 1500m&3000m outdoor
